A brief history
Today, Sunnersta Herrgård is run by Lena Holm. The mansion has a long history, and before becoming what it is today, it has seen a number of famous owners come and go. Among those are Olof Bure, vice president of the Svea Court of Appeal, who owned the house in 1630, and the arch bishop Laurentius Paulinus Gothus who came into possession of Sunnersta mansion in 1641. The mansion was conferred on him for life and it stayed in the family for several decades.
In 1682, the king Karl XI reduced the mansion’s privileges. Among other things, Sunnersta lost its tax exemption. This was because the mansion was no longer considered to meet the royal standards.
In the 1850s, however, Sunnersta reclaimed its privileges and the arch bishop Carl Fredrik af Wingård became the new owner. After this, the Stiernstedt family owned the house until 1906, when they sold it to the limited company AB Sunnersta Egna hem. In 1994, the Holm family became the new owners of Sunnersta
